Strawberry Genome Research
Genome analysis of cultivated strawberries presents significant challenges due to the presence of multiple subgenomes. Many research groups are actively engaged in this field, continually uncovering new insights. Efforts are underway to develop advanced analytical techniques aimed at achieving more accurate analyses. To date, a precise genomic sequence of Fragaria iinumae, a wild species native to Japan and likely a significant contributor to the subgenomes of cultivated strawberries, has been obtained.
Exploring Gene Expression for Future Breeding and Disease Management
Research is being conducted to develop genetic markers that will aid in breeding and disease management. This involves profiling genes that exhibit expression changes based on growth conditions and comparing gene expression in strawberry varieties with different levels of resistance to anthracnose.
